Amazon’s exploration into the smartphone market encounters delays
Following the success of Amazon’s kindle fire tablet, rumors have been circulating regarding the launch of a new Amazon smart phone. Although, the technology giant is yet to officially confirm the existence of a smart phone, reports suggest Amazon is already experiencing supply chain difficulties. According to Forbes magazine, Amazon’s supply partners Foxconn and Ensky Tech have run into a jungle of technical difficulties delaying the production of the new product. As a result of these supply chain issues, it could be some time before we have a chance to navigate our way around the new amazon kindle smart phone.

Food industry cooks up next course of waste reduction
The food supply chain has come under fierce media scrutiny lately following numerous scandals that have opened the world’s eyes to the multitude of industry issues. However, new research offers a refreshing different change in flavor in the media this week; UK retailers and leading food brands have reduced supply chain waste by 8.8% since 2009. Additionally, in response to research highlighting the top 50 worst offending grocery products, some of the biggest players in the industry have vowed to further reduce the environmental impact by improving the manufacturing and sales process of items such as eggs, bread and milk.

Cocktail of supply chain improvements help Diageo cut inefficiencies
With St. Patrick’s Day just around the corner many people will no doubt be making the most of the occasion with a few pints of Ireland’s famous Guinness beer. However the organization behind the Guinness brand has this week announced a huge supply chain restructure which could help the drinks-giant achieve annual changes of around £60 million. According to reports featured in the Spirits Business magazine, Diageo plans to refocus its procurement and distribution to accommodate for its expanding global markets.
