How high is your Railsponsibility?
Six rail companies decided to collaborate in order to promote a more sustainable procurement in the global railway supply chain. The initiative was called ‘Railsponsible’ and will aim to ensure that all railway suppliers have good social, ethical, environmental and business practices in place. The companies taking part in the scheme are: Bombardier Transportation, Deutsche Bahn, Alstom Transport, Nederlandse Spoorwegen, Knorr-Bremse, and SNCF. ‘Railsponsible’ will encourage the suppliers to hold quarterly membership meetings to share best practices, take part in assessment campaigns and analyze data in order to identify supply chain priorities. This will help make the procurement processes in rail companies more transparent and sustainable, while promoting collaboration at the same time.

The W.P. Carey School of Business at Arizona State University is offering an online supply-chain management course for workers who want to expand their skills, and learn about various industries. The program is intended to be a ‘refresher’ course lasting 6 months starting in April. It will be a non-credit course, after which students can receive a professional certificate. The course will include case studies from the industry and real-world simulations.

DHL is now risk-proof
DHL has recently introduced new capabilities to its risk management solution called Resilience360. It is an end-to-end supply chain risk management platform which warns shippers about global accidents and other possible risks along the supply chain in almost real time. This allows DHL to immediately respond to possible disruptions and minimize losses. It is currently being used by shippers in the Americas, Europe and Asia. Resilience360 allows users to visualize the route of their supply chain and scan the latest status and positions of all DHL shipments all over the world. The risk management tool will also provide customers with a country-specific risk page, incident trends and risk scores.
