Another year has come and gone, and we here at the ISCO Blog would like to take the opportunity to thank all our readers and guest bloggers for helping our blog grow over the past 12 months. Through your support and discussions on social media channels as well as emails with feedback, we were able to expand our content and deliver entertaining and informative supply chain articles. In 2015, we experienced a 51% increase in page views, and a 13% increase in the average time spent on our site compared to 2014.
Top 5 articles written in 2015
“We do not learn from experience… we learn from reflecting on experience.” – John Dewey
It has become a tradition to have our final post for the year be a review of our blog activity, which allows us to better plan for the upcoming year. We are also able to identify the top trends based on which articles generated the most interest on the market. The following 5 articles were written in 2015 and generated the most views over the course of the year:
- 3 Supply Chain Trends to Watch in 2015
- The Cloud – What’s in it for supply chain managers?
- Supply Chain Co-opetition: All for One, And One for All?
- Why Supply Chains are Getting More Complex – And Why this is not Necessarily a Problem
- The Amazing Supply Chain of Your Morning Coffee
Simply by looking at these titles, it is clear that cloud technology, collaboration and growing supply chain complexity were leading topics in 2015. The biggest surprise for me was the amazing supply chain article on coffee. It was written at the end of August, but still managed to fight its way onto the top 5 list. This goes to show, there is either a widespread addiction to coffee within the supply chain profession, or our entertainment pieces are being well-received by readers. I think it is a combination of both!
Evergreen Content
Evergreen content refers to articles that retain their value over time. It is actually some of these articles from the archives that generated the most overall views in 2015. Here are the three most visited articles from our entire collection (all written in previous years):
- The 3 Must-Haves for Successful Inventory Management (July 2013)
- What can we Learn from Apple’s Supply Chain? (October 2014)
- IKEA in Action: Logistics and Supply Chain Sustainability (July 2014)
Based on these titles, it is safe to conclude that practical examples serve as a great learning basis. We will be sure to include more of these examples in our content plan for 2016.
Guest bloggers
Guest blogging serves as a great opportunity to expand your professional network. In 2015, we had three guest writers cover various topics:
- Erik Diks, Chainalytics: How Can You Master EU Inventory and Supply Chain Optimization?
- Julian Carroll, SnapParcel: The Future of European Logistics – Infographic
- Kate Lee, Fronetics: Social Media Literacy and the Supply Chain
If you have a topic you would like to address and are searching for a platform to share it on, let us know! I would be happy to send you a copy of our blogging guidelines and discuss potential articles with you.
Next to our guest bloggers, we were able to secure two interviews with industry experts for our “Supply Chain Ask an Expert” blog series. This is something I would like to expand on in 2016 as well. Specifically, I am currently looking for interviewees for the topics of supplier relationship management as well as supply chain transparency.
Event Outlook 2016
If you want to know what is going on in the supply chain industry, one of the best ways to obtain this information is to attend an industry event. A significant amount of the content we create stems from trending topics we pick up on at events. I also believe face-to-face networking is still very important to business relationships. The ISCO blog will be in attendance and providing coverage (tweets, articles etc.) at the following three events in 2016:
- EMEA Supply Chain and Logistics Summit in Barcelona
- SCTechShow in Chicago
- 33rd International Supply Chain Conference in Berlin
If you plan on attending any of these events, I would be happy to connect either in advance or at the event. This could serve as an opportunity to set up an interview for our “Ask an Expert” series mentioned above.
Closing words
In summary, I want to take the opportunity to wish you a Merry Christmas, Happy Holidays, and a successful, productive 2016. We will be back on January 4 with new, fresh content. As seen in the previous sections, there are a lot of opportunities to connect and network with us, so please do not hesitate to reach out! We look forward to more insightful discussions in 2016.
